K-pop group BTS (aka Beyond The Scene) consists of 7 members: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. The guys were brought together by Big Hit Entertainment, and made a splash into the K-pop world with their song “No More Dream,” which arrived on part-one of their first album trilogy 2 Cool 4 Skool on June 12, 2013.
The second part of the school trilogy was titled O!RUL8,2?, while the third was called Skool Luv Affair.
The guys gained a major following between their next albums Wake Up (2014) and Wings (2016). The Wings album hit number 26 on the Billboard 200 — making it the highest charting K-pop album ever!
Not long after, the hit boy band debuted their new album Love Yourself: Her (2017), which hit number 7 on the Billboard 200 — the highest spot ever for an Asian artist. Congratulations, guys!
The guys also revealed that while BTS originally stood for Bulletproof Boy Scouts, it would now stand for Beyond The Scene.
In addition to their strong Billboard ranking, the guys have also raked in a number of powerful awards, including Artist of the Year at the 2016 and 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards, and Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards. The guys even made it into the 2018 Guinness World Records edition for “having the world’s most Twitter engagements for a music group.”
BTS also made history by becoming the very first K-pop group to ever perform at the American Music Awards in 2017, and by being the first K-pop group to perform as part of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
BTS has done so much in just a few short years. Fans can’t wait to see what they do next!
